For those of you who have never used a loft ladder this should give you a rough idea of how they work.

There are differences between the various models but what follows is typical.

With the loft ladder installed in the loft and the hatch closed, nothing shows from below except for a small nylon "eye" for the catch. (hatch shown is as supplied, unpainted)

Using the stowing pole the catch is released and the hatch lowered

The same pole is used bring down the ladder until it stops. The second ( and third ) section are extended.

The ladder is ready to use. It's quick, simple, safe .

Stowing the ladder is simply the reverse.
