What is the procedure to order a ladder : Contact us and we will arrange to visit you to measure your loft and hatchway size. We will advise you which ladders will fit, how much they cost etc. If you decide to go ahead we will manufacture a new hatch cover in our workshop and arrange to visit on a second occasion to carry out the work.

 

After we ring, how long before you fit the ladder : We aim to visit you and measure the week following your call , or sooner, and to fit the ladder the week after that. This does depend of course on this being convenient for you.

 

How long does the work take : Because we arrive with the hatch cover and ladder already assembled fitting it only takes about 40minutes (depends on type) to fit . For a hatchway enlargement allow about 4hours.

 

My neighbour had a ladder, his house is the same as mine, do you need to measure : Yes in a row of houses the hatchways are usually all a slightly different.

 

Do I need to be there when you fit the ladder : Not necessarily, because it only takes about 40min some of our customers arrange to have a neighbour or relative to "house sit" whilst the work is carried out. For helth and safety reasons we do need to demonstrate the correct operation of the ladder to you or you representative when the work is finished.

 

Is the hatchcover supplied painted : No it is supplied ready to paint. There are so many finishes and paint shades it is not feasible for us to supply it painted.

 

Does it come with a guarantee : Yes all work comes with a written twelve month guarantee which covers everything except damage caused by misuse.

 

What is misuse : For example-to open the catch you insert the stowing pole through the eye on hatch and turn it (like a door handle) to release the catch. If you have a stranger (workman?) in who just pulls, and when the hatch fails to open pulls even harder until the catch breaks this would be classed as misuse. 

 

Do you service ladders that are out of guarantee : yes

I've already bought a ladder , can you fit it for me : If its new and complete, probably, please ask

 

Do I need to provide anything for you : No, but a cup of tea would be nice!

 

How can I pay : Cash or cheque please.

 

Do you need a deposit : For ladders no, for enlargements/new access yes £20
